In feijoa

It is difficult to explain what a feijoada is. First of all, this is a traditional dish for Portugal and the country's former colonies. The consistency resembles a very thick puree, and the taste is something unique! Brazilians love this dish very much and cook it with beans, pork and cassava flour in portioned pots. Served with oranges and rice.

Ingredients

Servings 6 servings
  • 500 g canned red beans
  • 200 g smoked pork ribs
  • onion - 1 onion
  • garlic - 3 cloves
  • 30 g butter
  • 100 g s/smoked sausage
  • 100 g bacon
  • 1 orange
  • 5-6 slices wheat bread
  • parsley leaves for serving
  • 150 g boiled white rice
  • salt

Cooking

Step 1

Soak beans overnight. Drain the water, pour the beans again with 2 liters of cold water.

Step 2

Cut the meat from the ribs, put the remaining bones in a pan with beans. Cook over low heat for 1 hour. Remove the bones.

Step 3

Chop the onion and garlic, fry with butter until golden brown.

Step 4

Chop the meat from the ribs, cut the sausage and bacon into cubes. Fry everything for 5 minutes. on the remaining oil, and then put in a pan with beans. Salt, pepper.

Step 5

Add hot water so that it covers the contents by 3 cm. Cook, stirring, over low heat for 45 minutes.

Step 6

Cut orange into circles. Grill the slices of bread. Sprinkle the finished dish with finely chopped parsley and garnish with orange circles. Serve white rice separately.
