Pickled cucumbers with onions
Delicious and crispy pickled cucumbers from Bulgaria were in great demand during the Soviet era, but were in short supply. It is easy to prepare this popular snack at home. The special feature of the recipe is that the cucumbers need to be pickled together with onions and carrots. Unlike classic pickles, a little more sugar and salt is used here. The marinade is soaked in the aroma of vegetables, giving the cucumbers an unusual taste, familiar to many from childhood. The products are indicated based on a liter jar.
How to cook Pickled cucumbers with onions
Step 1

Prepare a jar with vegetables. Put garlic cloves, peppercorns, bay leaf on the bottom of the jar, add onion rings. Then put cucumbers and carrots alternately throughout the jar. Pour boiling water over the cucumbers to sterilize for 20 minutes. Then drain the water. Pour water over them again for the same amount of time.
Step 2

Prepare the marinade. Drain the water from the second pouring of cucumbers into a saucepan, add salt and sugar. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, pour in vinegar, cook for 20-30 seconds.
Step 3

Marinate cucumbers with onions. Pour the hot marinade over the cucumbers. Roll up the jar, check if the liquid is leaking. After that, turn the container upside down, wrap it in a warm blanket, let it cool completely, and then put it in the cold.
