Pomegranate tincture

Cookinero 2 Apr 2025

A pomegranate contains from 400 to 900 seeds, covered with juicy pulp with a sweet and sour taste. Two fruits are enough to prepare a delicious drink on moonshine. The pomegranate tincture will be even tastier if you add a little citrus. Orange will dilute the tartness and add freshness to the drink. It will take only 30 minutes to prepare the tincture, and it will take another 20 days to reach readiness.

How to cook Pomegranate tincture

Step 1

Pomegranate tincture

Prepare the base for the tincture. Pour the peeled pomegranate into a three-liter jar. Cut the orange into several pieces and add it to the pomegranate. Pour sugar here too. Stir.

Step 2

Pomegranate tincture

Make a tincture. Pour moonshine over the fruit and sugar mixture. Do not pour it quickly, but in a moderate stream. Cover with a lid and shake well. Put it in a dark place at room temperature for 20 days.

Step 3

Pomegranate tincture

Strain the pomegranate tincture. After 20 days, take out the drink, shake it. Open the lid and strain. Considering that the orange pulp will become soggy, make at least 3 layers of gauze, or strain with cotton wool.

Fresh pomegranate is best for flavor, but in a pinch, you can use high-quality pure juice—just avoid ones with added sugars or preservatives.
For a non-alcoholic version, substitute moonshine with apple cider vinegar or a fruit-infused syrup, though the taste and preservation will differ.
Freezing isn't recommended as it may alter the texture and flavor. Stick to cool, dark storage for best results.
