Step 1

Separate the yolks from the whites. Mix flour with sugar and baking powder, make a hill with a recess in the middle. Alternately pour in oil, yolks, 150 ml of water, vanilla extract and lemon zest (exactly in that order). Leave without mixing. Beat egg whites with salt until firm foam. Knead the dough with yolks. Add whites, gently mixing with a spatula from top to bottom. Pour the dough into a greased and floured form. Bake 55 min. in an oven preheated to 165ºС. Raise the temperature to 175ºC and bake for another 15 minutes. Allow to cool completely and remove from the mold. Cut a hole in the center - big enough for the doll to fit in (it should be waist-deep in the cake, then it will look like her skirt). Decorate the "skirt" with icing mixed with strawberry syrup and sweets. Refrigerate and serve.
