Donuts with orange sauce
Ring-shaped donuts are a classic, familiar option. But in many countries they are made in the form of balls. So if you want to make it easier for yourself, skip the fourth step of this recipe and deep-fry the balls that have risen.
How to cook Donuts with orange sauce
Step 1
Sift flour together with salt. Pour the third part of the flour into a large bowl, pour in water, add sugar and yeast. Stir, cover and leave in a warm place for 1.5 hours.
Step 2
Pour the remaining flour into the bowl with the dough. Add honey, butter and proteins. Knead the dough and leave for 1 hour more.
Step 3
Lay out the dough on a floured surface. Knead for 5-7 minutes. Then, pinching off pieces of the same size from it, roll into balls with a diameter of 4.5 cm. Sprinkle them with flour, leave for 15 minutes.
Step 4
Take the ball with both hands. Press firmly on the center with your thumbs so that a hole is formed. Slightly kneading the edges of the ball with your hands, give it the shape of a ring.
Step 5
Pour orange juice into a saucepan, mix with honey. Place over medium heat and simmer until sauce is reduced by half.
Step 6
Heat vegetable oil in a saucepan. Fry donuts in batches for 3.5 minutes, then spread on paper napkins. Sprinkle donuts with powdered sugar. Serve with orange sauce.
