Sugar, Currant

Red currant juice

When preparing fruit drinks, the berries are subjected to minimal heat treatment, and they retain most of the nutrients. For example, vitamin C, pectin and tannins, which are so rich in red currants.

Ingredients

Servings 5
  • 1 liter of water
  • 150 g red currant
  • sugar - 150 g

Cooking

Step 1

Remove the currant berries from the branches, sort, wash and let dry. Boil water in a wide saucepan. Put the currants in a colander and lower them into the pan so that the berries are covered with water. Without removing the pan from the heat, warm the berries for 2 minutes.

Step 2

Mash the warmed berries and rub through a colander with a wooden spoon or pestle.

Step 3

Add sugar to the berry broth, bring to a boil, remove from heat and let it brew for 1-2 hours.
