Homemade shortbread cookies

These shortbread biscuits are truly homely in nature: they are intended for a cozy family tea party with the closest ones. Although, of course, such pastries can also be offered to guests, especially if they decide to drop in on you spontaneously, without prior arrangements. The fact is that these delicious shortbread cookies are prepared from the most affordable products, and quickly. Going to the store will most likely take more time, and you will have to make some expenses there! And in the case of this cookie, everything is elementary: we prepare the dough from butter, sugar, eggs and flour, cool it for a short time, form balls, send it to the oven and after fifteen minutes we invite everyone to the table. The perfect solution!

Ingredients

Servings 30
  • butter - 120 g
  • sugar - 100 g
  • egg - 1 pc.
  • vanilla extract - 1 tsp
  • flour - 260 g + a little more to work with the dough
  • salt - on the tip of a knife
  • baking powder - 1/2 tsp
  • ground cinnamon and fine sugar for sprinkling - to taste

Cooking

Step 1

Prepare homemade shortbread dough. First of all, cut the butter into small cubes and place in a bowl. Leave at room temperature for 30 minutes.

Step 2

Pour sugar into a bowl with soft butter. Beat with a mixer until a fluffy mass of a homogeneous consistency is obtained. Add egg and vanilla extract. Mix thoroughly.

Step 3

Sift flour with salt and baking powder into a separate dry clean bowl through a fine sieve. Add the mixture to the egg-butter mixture and quickly knead the cookie dough.

Step 4

Sprinkle the work surface with a little flour. Put the resulting dough on it and form a ball. Wrap it in cling film and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Step 5

Heat the oven to 175°C. Line a baking sheet with baking parchment. Take the cookie dough out of the refrigerator. Remove the film. Place the shortcrust pastry on a work surface lightly dusted with flour.

Step 6

Divide the dough into small pieces and roll each into a ball the size of a walnut. Mix cinnamon and flour in equal proportions in a bowl. Roll the dough balls in the mixture and place on a baking sheet. Cook cookies in the oven for 15-17 minutes.
