The most delicious strudel with apples
What is the best apple strudel? The one that is prepared by skillful hands, but certainly with soul and mood. Any experienced housewife will confirm that for some reason it is the dough that “feels” the emotional state of the one who deals with it. Therefore, if the mood is at zero, first try to recover at least a little. By the way, for the preparation of strudel with apples, peace of mind is especially important: you will need endurance and patience. First - in order to knead the dough thoroughly, with sense, with feeling, with arrangement, then - to make the thinnest layer out of it without a single hole. And then - in order to calmly respond to the endless questions of the household about how much longer they have to wait (the aromas from the kitchen will simply drive you crazy). Interestingly, when this, by far, the most delicious strudel is ready, there will be no trace of your bad mood. Proven in practice!
Ingredients
Servings 10- flour - 250 g + 1-2 tbsp. l. for rolling dough
- drinking water - 120 ml
- vegetable oil - 1 tbsp. l.
- egg - 1 pc.
- salt - on the tip of a knife
- raisins - 100 g
- peeled walnuts - 80 g
- apples - 1 kg
- butter - 50 g
- sugar - 150 g
- ground cinnamon - to taste
- rich crackers - 150 g
- powdered sugar - 2 tbsp. l.
Cooking
Step 1
Prepare the dough for the most delicious strudel. Sift the flour through a fine sieve onto the table in a pile. Make a small indentation in the top with a spoon or finger.
Step 2
Gently pour warm water and vegetable oil into it. Add egg and salt. Knead the dough and knead it, kneading, rolling and beating on the table for at least 15 minutes.
Step 3
From the resulting smooth, very elastic strudel dough, form a ball and wrap in cling film. Leave for 1 hour at room temperature.
Step 4
Prepare the apple strudel filling. Wash the raisins and place in a small bowl. Fill with warm water and leave for 10 minutes.
Step 5
Coarsely chop the walnuts with a knife. Peel the apples, then cut into quarters and remove the core with seeds. Cut the pulp into thin slices.
Step 6
Heat 20 g butter in a frying pan. Add sugar and apples. Stirring, fry over low heat for 3 minutes. Let cool slightly, then stir in the cinnamon, raisins and nuts. Delicious strudel filling is ready.
Step 7
Grind the rich crackers in a blender or pass through a meat grinder with a frequent grate. Pour into a dry frying pan and lightly brown over low heat.
Step 8
Spread a large linen towel on the table and dust it with flour. Lay out the dough and roll out. Then lift and gently stretch to the sides. You should get a thin, translucent layer. This is the base of the strudel.
Step 9
Melt the remaining butter and let cool. Brush it with a layer of dough for strudel and sprinkle with breadcrumbs. Spread the apple filling on top. Roll up.
Step 10
Transfer the apple strudel to a baking sheet lined with baking paper and cover with foil. Bake for 25 minutes at 180°C. Then remove the foil and bake for another 10 minutes. Let the strudel cool slightly and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
