Onion pie

Vegetarian delight. The recipe comes from a book my husband gave me. The cake turns out juicy, satisfying, tender and very tasty. Onion is not felt at all, you can’t even immediately say that it is onion.

Ingredients

Servings 8
  • flour - 125 g
  • wholemeal flour - 155 g
  • butter - 100 g
  • water - 5 tbsp. l.
  • white onion - 1 kg
  • French mustard - 1 tbsp. l.
  • sour cream - 250 g
  • chicken eggs - 3 pcs.
  • pitted olives - 100 g
  • butter - 25 g

Cooking

Step 1

Sift the flour, add the chopped butter and mix with your fingers until you get a crumbly semolina. Add ice water and knead the dough. Knead until soft and roll out the cake, transfer to a mold with a diameter of 23 cm. Raise the edges of the dough and press it against the walls of the mold, cover with a film and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Step 2

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Cover the dough with parchment paper, top with dried beans and bake for 10 minutes. Cool down.

Step 3

Cut the onion into rings and fry over medium heat for 45 minutes. stirring from time to time. Cool down.

Step 4

Grease the crust with mustard. Combine sour cream with eggs and beat thoroughly. Put the onion on the mustard and pour over the sour cream mixture. Place olives on top. Bake for 35 minutes until the top is browned and the filling is slightly set. Cool cake in pan for 5 minutes.
