Croque-monsieur sandwich

Croque-monsieur "(croque-monsieur) - a traditional French hot sandwich with ham and cheese. It is often served for lunch or as a "snack".

Ingredients

  • 4 slices of toast bread
  • 4 thin slices of ham
  • 4 thin slices of Swiss cheese
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 tbsp. grated cheese
  • 1/2 st. l. butter
  • 2/3 tbsp. l. torment
  • 1/3 st. milk
  • 1/3 h. l. year
  • small pinch of nutmeg (to taste)
  • ground black pepper to taste

Cooking

Step 1

We prepare the necessary ingredients.

Step 2

Preparing bechamel sauce. Melt the butter in a small saucepan.

Step 3

Pour flour into a saucepan and quickly stir with a whisk. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly with a whisk, for one minute.

Step 4

Pour milk in a thin stream, stirring constantly. Cook until thickened (the sauce should have the consistency of liquid semolina). Remove from heat, add salt, pepper, nutmeg and half of the grated cheese and leave for a while.

Step 5

Toast the slices of bread in a toaster until golden brown and place on a baking sheet lightly greased with vegetable oil. Brush the bread with mustard and place cheese slices on top. Cover with ham and second slices of cheese.

Step 6

Close with slices of bread. Spread béchamel sauce on top of sandwiches and sprinkle with remaining cheese. We put in an oven preheated to 205 degrees for 5 minutes.

Step 7

After 5 minutes, move under the grill (another 3 minutes to brown the top of the sandwich. Serve for brunch, lunch, or even a "lazy dinner", preferably with a salad. Bon appétit!
