Chermula

Chermula (Şermula)

Chermula (or shermula) is a spicy sauce very popular in Maghreb cuisine. Chermulu (shermulu) is served most often with meat and fish dishes, and is also used as a dressing for salads or seasoning for lentils and beans. In addition, chermula (shermula) can be used as a marinade.

Ingredients

  • ground cumin - 1 tsp.
  • cilantro - 3 sprigs
  • ground paprika - 0.5 tsp
  • ground turmeric - 1 tsp
  • garlic - 1 clove
  • small red onion - 1 pc.
  • lemon (juice) - 1 tbsp. l.
  • ground hot pepper - 0.5 tsp.
  • parsley - 3 sprigs
  • olive oil - 40 ml
  • salt

Cooking

Step 1

Peel the onion and garlic, cut into arbitrary pieces.

Step 2

Wash greens, dry, disassemble into small branches. Grind onion, garlic and herbs in a blender.

Step 3

Add all spices and salt, pour in olive oil and lemon juice. Mix and transfer to a bowl.
