Sandwich Pan-banya
Pan banya is, in fact, the same as the Nicoise salad, but only served inside a round loaf of bread. The ingredients are the same: tuna, eggs, tomatoes, bell peppers, olives, anchovies, olive oil... The bread is well soaked with a mixture of olive oil and vinegar, which is why the sandwich is called "pan-bagna," i.e. "redeemed bread." The sandwich turns out to be very bright, rich, nutritious and at the same time light.
Ingredients
- 2 small round loaves of bread with a crispy crust
- 1 garlic clove (optional)
- 1 medium sized tomato
- half a large sweet pepper
- 1-2 thin slices of sweet "salad" onion
- 1 can (120 g) canned tuna in oil
- 2 hard boiled eggs
- 4-6 canned anchovy fillets
- 4-6 fresh basil leaves
- 4-6 large pitted black olives
- salt, ground black pepper, wine vinegar and olive oil to taste
Cooking
Step 1
Preparing the Ingredients
Step 2
We cut the loaves of bread into two halves (the lower half should be slightly thicker than the "top"). Cut out part of the crumb from the bread. Sprinkle bread with vinegar, distribute crushed garlic on it and pour quite a lot of olive oil.
Step 3
Cut the tomatoes into thin circles. Sweet pepper cut into thin half rings. We put tomatoes on the bottom of the bottom half of the loaves. Next add sweet peppers. Lightly salt and pepper.
Step 4
Place canned tuna over vegetables. Next add the thinly sliced onion.
Step 5
Cut the hard-boiled eggs into thin circles and spread on top of the sandwich.
Step 6
Then we put anchovy fillets, olives and basil leaves.
Step 7
Cover the sandwiches with the top halves of the loaves of bread. Lightly press the top half to the bottom and let stand for a while. Serve as a main course. Enjoy your meal!
