Orange biscotti with almonds

These biscotti, with a slight orange flavor, are very similar to the ones we bought in Italy. Is that much more solid - they do not have a single gram of fat. Therefore, they are great for dipping them early in the morning in a cup of coffee, well, or tea, and eating them as a snack. For some reason, I love these most of all, although I never cease to fear for my teeth every time.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup almonds, lightly toasted in a pan (I didn't peel)
  • 2 cups flour (1 cup = 240 ml)
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. year
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 st. l. orange water (Orange Blossom Water), optional
  • zest of 1 orange, grated
  • prepare about 1/4 cup water (can be replaced with orange juice)

Cooking

Step 1

Preheat oven to 170 degrees.

Step 2

I carry out all the actions in the mixer, it’s faster and more convenient for me. Combine flour, sugar and salt in a large bowl or bowl of a stand mixer. Add the lightly beaten egg, orange water and zest, mix everything well.

Step 3

The mixture must be fairly dry. Now add water (or orange juice) little by little until our dough is moistened and all the ingredients are well mixed. Our task is then to roll two sausages out of it so that they keep their shape. Add 2 tbsp. l. liquids, stir and look at the consistency.

Step 4

Stir in toasted almonds.

Step 5

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and shape into two sausages about 4 cm thick. Bake until done (test with a toothpick - it should come out dry).

Step 6

Cool for 10 min. (do not turn off the oven) and cut diagonally into croutons, about 1.5 cm thick. Transfer them to a baking sheet and bake for 6-8 minutes. from each side.

Step 7

Store in a jar with a screw cap.
