Homemade margarine rolls

Homemade margarine bagels were cooked very often in Soviet times, so for many, the taste of this pastry is directly associated with childhood. Now, of course, you can easily buy something similar in the store, but still it will not be the same at all. So, it’s worth learning how to cook homemade bagels on your own, especially since such a task will not cause the slightest difficulty. We suggest making dough on all available margarine, as mothers and grandmothers used to do, but you can replace it with butter if you want.

Ingredients

Servings 10
  • flour - 450 g + a little more for rolling out the dough
  • margarine - 250 g
  • egg - 1 pc.
  • sugar - 100 g
  • vanilla sugar - 1 tbsp. l.
  • milk - 100 ml
  • apple marmalade - 200 g
  • powdered sugar - to taste

Cooking

Step 1

Prepare dough for rolls. Sift half of the flour on the work table. Cut margarine into small cubes. Put in flour and chop with a knife until large crumbs form.

Step 2

Add the egg, regular and vanilla sugar, pour in the milk. Stir. Add the remaining flour and knead the dough thoroughly. Divide it into 3 parts and form into balls. Wrap in cling film and refrigerate for 1 hour.

Step 3

Lay out one part of the dough on the work surface, dusted with flour. Roll out into a thin layer and cut it so that you get elongated triangles.

Step 4

Marmalade cut into cubes. Arrange them at the bases of the triangles and roll them into bagels. Place on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. In the same way, prepare bagels from the remaining dough.

Step 5

Heat the oven to 180°C. Bake the rolls for about 30 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack and let cool until warm. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve.
