Prepare the dough. Mix flour and kefir in a deep container until smooth. Add egg, salt and soda to the liquid mixture. Mix all these ingredients well. Knead the dough for the steamed dumplings. It should be soft and tender. Put the dough in a bowl, cover with a napkin and let it sit for 30 minutes.
Make vareniki. Roll out the prepared dough into a thin layer and cut out circles from it. Put a few cherries on each flatbread, sprinkle with sugar. Form a vareniki.
Steam for 5 minutes.
To serve steamed dumplings with cherries, use sour cream.
