Start making the puff pastry a day in advance. Add 2 tablespoons of sugar to the flour and mix. Cut the cold butter into small pieces and add to the flour, quickly mix until it becomes crumbly.
Knead the dough. Pour warm milk into a glass and add yeast, stir. Add 1 spoon of sugar and salt. Beat in an egg and stir. Add water. Pour this liquid into a bowl with flour crumbs and knead the dough with a mixer. Place the dough in a bowl, shaping it into a ball. Put it in the refrigerator for at least 12 hours, covered with film.
Make fancy cookies. Sprinkle the table with flour so that the dough does not stick. Place the dough on it, unfold it and roll it into a rectangular layer so that it is 3 mm thick. Sprinkle the dough evenly with sugar, then with cinnamon. Cut the rectangular layer of dough in half (lengthwise). Wrap the wide edges of the dough (on the left and right sides) in a "snail" to the middle. Twist the second half of the dough in the same way, from both sides to the middle. Then cut the resulting ropes across into pieces 1 - 1.5 cm thick.
Bake the cookies. Place the cookies on a baking sheet sprinkled with flour. Place them so that the cut side faces up. Place the baking sheet in the oven for 20 minutes. Serve the finished cookies. Enjoy!
