Fry the meat. To stew the meat, you need a large pot so that the meat is fried rather than boiled before stewing. Pour oil into a heated frying pan and fry the meat for about 5-6 minutes until a crust forms. Add the onion and carrot and simmer over low heat under a lid. When the vegetables are fried, add tomato paste, basil and pepper to the meat. Pour in 100 ml of water, stir and continue to simmer for another 10 minutes under a closed lid.
Add lentils to the meat. Red lentils do not need to be pre-soaked, they cook quickly. Pour them into the frying pan with the meat, pour in 300 ml of water. Mix all the ingredients and simmer for 20-25 minutes. If necessary, add salt to the lentils and meat.
